Bug fixes & improvements (November 24, 2021)

While our team is juggling several projects, we're still finding time to fix bugs and improve Classcraft a little bit every week. Here are a few things we've fixed lately:

User interface πŸ§‘β€πŸ’»

  • We removed the old Classcraft 101 videos from the teacher homepage as they were out-of-date and caused confusion (PSST! Check your Class Progression or our YouTube channel for tutorials!) πŸ§‘β€πŸ«
  • We fixed an issue that made it impossible for students to receive Experience Points and Gold Pieces for more than one behavior at a time using Collective Feedback

Class Tools & settings βš’οΈ

  • When you reset your demo class, you can now decide which chapter you want it initialize to instead of always setting it up on Chapter 4

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments related to these fixes, please let us know! If you need assistance, check our Knowledge Center or contact support@classcraft.com for help! πŸ˜„

Hot Tip #2 — Modifying points manually

We're back with more tips! Ever wondered how to remove Gold Pieces to a student, or give them a Crystal without waiting for them to level up? Well, wonder no more!

There's a handy little feature called Modify points manually that enables you to give or remove any type of points to one or more students. For this, the following count as "points":

  • Experience Points
  • Crystals
  • Gold Pieces (Chapter 2)
  • Health (Chapter 4)

There's any number of reasons why you might want to modify points outside the scope of behavior settings and tools. Here are a few common examples:

  • You mistakenly gave too many Experience Points to a student
  • You have a class store and a student wants to purchase something
  • On a special event, you want students to regain all their Crystals

Like when you use your positive or negative behaviors, you can modify points for a single or multiple students at a time. In either case, click the ... button to view the submenu and select Modify points manually.

Afterward, enter a description, which will be visible in your and your student's game feed and input the values you want to modify. Every value can be increased or decreased as you want!

Note that removing Experience Points from a student may reduce their level, which means they'll:

  • Lose access to higher-level gear
  • Lose access to higher-level pets
  • Lose some Gold Pieces and Crystals

They do not, however, lose the ability to equip already acquired pets and gear.

If you have any questions or hot tips suggestions, drop us a line, we love to hear from you! You can comment here or contact support@classcraft.com.

Hot tip #1 — Dealing with damage

There are so many nooks and crannies in Classcraft, little things even our most experienced users may not know about. We're here for you!

These brand-new Hot Tips should help you better understand some of the more mysterious and powerful aspects of Classcraft in a bite-sized, accessible format.

We’re breaking the ice with one of the hottest topics: delayed damage.

We first want to reassure you: we’ve heard your feedback. Our designers and engineers are hard at work streamlining the experience!

When dealing with damage, there are a few useful things to know:

  • All damage is automatically redirected to your to-dos and the delayed damage queue  for students, except for damage incurred when a teammate falls
  • Damage must be dealt with in the order it occurred, on a per-team basis (if you use teams)
  • You can cancel damage from your to-dos through the β€œ...” button

The damage is not immediately applied when a student loses Health: their number of hearts does not change. To enact this Health loss, check your to-dos!

This delay between when the damage is received and applied enables students to strategize, collaborate, and use their powers to help out their teammates.

A beautiful view

We have news about the different views of Classcraft: the Grid View, the List View, and the Profile View. They now work even better β€” for you!

The Class Dashboard displays all of your students' icons, levels, names, and Crystals in a view. From your feedback, we understood that this view is not unanimously loved.

For a sleeker, more compact view, you could access the List View by clicking on that little list button in the upper part of the Class Dashboard:

Every time you went to a different section, you'd return to the Grid View and would have to manually switch to the List View again. And we know every single click counts!

That's why, now, when you select either the List or the Grid View, you’ll still be in your preferred view when returning to the Class Dashboard! Your preference persists until you change your mind, and change views again.

Speaking of views ... did you know that when you select any student in your class and click the View profile button, you'll access the Profile view, which looks very similar to the legacy experience? Here, you can give them points, display their awesome character (if they have one), and navigate to other students.

How? Glad you asked!

If the student list is not already open (it should be since our latest update), click on the purple arrow beside a student’s name or team crest to view all the students in the class.

Use this list to navigate from profile to profile to give points to different students, view their characters and powers, etc.

We really hope this makes your experience a little easier!

If you have any feedback or questions, don't hesitate to comment here or send a message to support@classcraft.com. Can't wait to hear from you!
