It's all about progress(ion)

You've had a lot to say about the class progression! We've been collecting comments and working on streamlining how it works and is displayed.

Today, we're releasing the following improvements to the class progression:

1. No more progress bar in the Introduction

In the Introduction, teachers need to complete the four steps. There's no sense of progression as in the other chapters: it's a list of mandatory steps to play Classcraft with your students. To avoid confusion, we removed the progress bar when in the introductory chapter.

2. Updated how the class progression bar looks

When you give Experience Points to your students, your class automatically progresses. Unfortunately, this bar looked quite different from the other existing Experience Points bar, the student's. We've harmonized the visuals so it's easier to understand the bar's purposed. To this effect, we

  • added the numbers of current Experience Points and the total required to naturally reach the next chapter
  • changed the color to the Experience Points' purple color
  • made Experience Points increase visible

3. Made it possible to hide the class progression bar

Whether you've finished progressing through the four chapters or you're at a place you're comfortable at, you may want to dismiss the class progress bar and only view your student list on the Class Dashboard. You can now dismiss the bar by clicking the X button in the top right corner. To re-enable it afterward:

  • Click the ... button
  • Select "Show class progression bar"

The bar may reappear periodically to prompt you to try out a new feature or move on to a different chapter, but you can choose to dismiss it again.

Don't hesitate to let you know what you think about these changes or send any feedback our way, we're always happy to hear from you! 😁

Parent Gold Pieces are back!

You've asked for it and we heard you!

We made it one of our priorities to allow parents to give Gold Pieces to their children, a feature that was missing in the new experience.

We're proud to say that it's now available to all users!

As usual, parents need their own accounts to reward their child's behavior and can only give up to 15 Gold Pieces any given day. To do so, they'll use the handy Praise behavior button that's been added to their child's profile!

A few big improvements!

While we consistently fix bugs, we’re also working on improving existing features. This week, we’ve released two major improvements that warrant their own announcements!

Google Classroom integration

In the new experience, the Google Classroom integration did not work as expected, most notably with Quests and the Grade Converter. We figured out what was causing these issues and addressed it.

We're proud to say that the Google Classroom integration should be back to its normal self, whether you’re creating a quest objective or importing grades!

Going back to a previous chapter

We understand that different teachers have different comfort levels when it comes to chapters. Unfortunately, once you've reached a chapter, you find yourself stuck there. But maybe students have too many different powers in Chapter 3, or maybe you don’t actually want to use Health in your class!

What can you do?! Well! It’s now possible to return to a previously-completed chapter, locking and hiding features until you feel ready or want to use them.

You can find this option in the class settings, under Game Rules: you should see a Class Progression tab!

Wanted: Mobile feedback!

Do you use Classcraft on mobile? Have opinions you want to share? We’re currently conducting a survey to help us improve the mobile experience. This 10-minute survey aims to gather feedback about the way teachers actually use the mobile app. Wanna help out? Click here!

User License Agreement update

As of today, our new Privacy Policy and user agreements are in effect. You'll have two weeks to read and accept the new agreements, after which your access to Classcraft will be withdrawn until you accept the agreements.

We haven't updated our agreements for three years so this is a major update! Here are a few of the key changes:

  • There were previously three documents for user agreements (teachers, parents and students). These agreements have been merged into one universal agreement that also includes administrators and other staff members.
  • The Privacy Policy has been updated to include the new product features. We also have created tables explaining each collected data type, whose data it is, how we are collecting it, who has access to it in the classroom, who has access through the platform, and more.
  • We have also created tables showing our subcontractors (e.g. AWS, Zendesk, Mixpanel, etc.), what they're used for, and how that affects data privacy.
  • We updated a number of sections for compliance, particularly around data ownership and data security, in various jurisdictions including the European Union.
  • We separated the Privacy Policy for the Classcraft platform from the Privacy Policy for the public facing website.
  • Finally, we have improved the presentation of the documents including a table of contents on the left of each document so readers can go directly to the area that concerns them.

If you have any question or concern related to these changes, please reach out to support@classcraft.com!
